Is lungworm covered by PHC ? Yes – We include a monthly worming plan within our Pet Health Club for dogs and cats as standard. We have decided to do this to ensure protection against Lungworm in all dogs. We are also concerned about the risk to humans from dog and cat worm eggs, particularly in children. We believe it is important to worm dogs and cats monthly.
What are the “selected chronic medications”? – This list covers the vast majority of prescription only medications that are regularly prescribed for the long term treatment of chronic conditions. This list is reviewed annually. Please contact us if you want to double check that a medication is covered.
Is Kennel Cough vaccine covered by PHC ? – As of 2017 we included Kennel Cough vaccine as standard for dogs within the plan.
Although many of us do not use kennels, it is now more common to see KC in un-kenneled dogs. We do see many cases of this very infectious disease that can make our dogs feel poorly – in particular during the summer and autumn when our dog population becomes more social in Cornwall.
When do payments get taken? – Payments are taken monthly by Direct Debit. You can let us know on the registration form which is your preferred date. Bear in mind that this could mean that two payments are taken out in the same month initially to keep payments up to date.
Is PHC a kind of pet insurance? – No. Being a member of PHC means that you pay monthly for the preventive care of your pet…the bits that aren’t covered by insurance! Even though you do get discounts on services and products that are covered by pet insurance we still strongly recommend pet insurance is taken out to cover when your pet is ill or injured. However, as a member of our PHC you get 100% discount on any of our administration charges for our processing of your insurance claims.
What happens if I decide to cancel my plan? – Because our PHC is an annual agreement we would urge you to contact us and discuss it if you are considering cancelling your direct debit. If you do cancel part way through the 12 months then any discounts or products you have received as part of your PHC membership will be calculated and, if not covered by the payments you have already made, you will be liable for these charges.
What happens if I need to cancel my plan because my pet has sadly died? –Contact us straight away and speak to one of our team who will advise you on what to do.
Who are Easy Direct Debits and why are they contacting me? – Easy Direct Debits is the company we work with to manage the direct debit side of things. They will contact you about any payment issues and any changes affecting your direct debit e.g. when it renews. If you are unsure at all then contact the surgery.
